Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Position router in central location.

  1. Connect to modem: Use Ethernet cable from modem to WAN port.
  2. Connect computers: Use Ethernet cables to LAN ports 1-4.
  3. Attach antennas: Screw all three antennas securely.
  4. Connect USB storage: Plug into USB port for SharePort functionality.
  5. Plug into power outlet.

WARNING! Ensure proper ventilation; do not block vents. Use included power adapter only.

First-Time Setup

Power on router; wait for Power LED to stabilize.

  1. Connect computer: Via Ethernet cable or wireless (default SSID: dlink).
  2. Access web interface: Open browser, go to http://dlinkrouter.local or 192.168.0.1.
  3. Run setup wizard: Follow on-screen instructions for internet connection.
  4. Configure wireless: Set SSID, security type (WPA2 recommended), and password.
  5. Save settings: Apply changes and restart router if prompted.

CAUTION! Record your wireless settings for future device connections.

  3. Access shared storage: Via network places or http://dlinkrouter.local:8080
  4. Configure access: Set user permissions in web interface under USB Storage.
  5. Map network drive: Use Windows Explorer to create permanent network drive.

Tip: Format USB drives as FAT32 for best compatibility.

Wireless Configuration

Optimize wireless performance and security.

  1. Access wireless settings: Web interface > Wireless > Basic Settings.
  2. Set SSID: Choose unique network name.
  3. Select band: 2.4GHz for compatibility, 5GHz for less interference.
  4. Configure security: WPA2-Personal with strong passphrase.
  5. Set channel: Auto or manual (1,6,11 for 2.4GHz).
  6. Enable wireless: Ensure wireless radio is enabled.
